Lyrebird Forest Walk Re-opens After February Fires
07 Oct 2009

Link:  The Friends of Lyrebird Forest Walk - Mirboo Regional Park

Mr Matt Viney MP, Member for Eastern Victoria Region, will reopen the scenic Lyrebird Forest Walk, situated in the Mirboo North Regional Park today. The walk sustained damages to tracks, culverts and picnic facilities when the Delburn fire swept through the area earlier this year.

Dan Jones, Parks Victoria's Gippsland Fire Recover Program Manager said, “The rehabilitation and recovery of the walk been a joint effort between the Friends of Lyrebird Walk, the Green Corps crew working out of West Gippsland and Wilsons Promontory National Park and Parks Victoria.”

“The walk is a model for local communities, government initiatives (Green Corps), and Parks Victoria working together to achieve a successful goal. Without the efforts of the volunteers the reopening of the walk would still be months away.”

“We are also taking this opportunity to unveil a plaque in recognition of the tireless efforts of the volunteers of the park”

WHAT: Reopening of the Lyrebird Forest Walk and unveiling of a plaque, followed by a BBQ lunch.

WHEN: Wednesday, 7 October 2009, 12.00pm

WHERE: Lyrebird Forest Walk
Mirboo North Regional Park
Strzelecki Hwy , Mirboo North

WHO: Mr Matt Viney MP, Member for Eastern Victoria Region,
