There are currently over 250 Parks Victoria Licensed Tour Operators offering 28 different guided recreation activities on public land in Victoria.

Licensed Tour Operators offer a range of appropriate guided recreation activities, including bushwalking, bicycle riding, horse riding, canoeing, rock climbing and abseiling tours. These guided recreation opportunities are conducted across a wide range of environments, ranging from remote National Parks to Metropolitan Parks close to Melbourne.

Adventure Activity Standards

Industry has endorsed and the Government has funded a project to develop documented Adventure Activity Standards (AAS) for the outdoor recreation industry.

There are currently Adventure Activity Standards for the following Parks Victoria licensed activities.

  • Abseiling
  • Bushwalking
  • Canoeing / kayaking
  • Four Wheel Driving
  • Horse Trail Riding
  • Mountain Biking
  • Recreational Angling
  • River Rafting
  • Rock Climbing
  • Snorkelling, Scuba Diving, and Wildlife Swims
  • Surfing Sessions
  • Trail Bike Touring

Details of the AAS and the industry consultation process undertaken by Outdoor Recreation Centre Victoria (ORC) are available at www.orc.org.au.

Compliance with relevant AAS is a condition of all tour operator licences.

For licensed activities where AAS have not been developed, the licence application notes the requirements.
