Management Planning
What is a Management Plan? Management plans are strategic documents for future management, detailed planning and implementation. As a public document, management plans establish how the natural and cultural values of a park will be protected and also describe the services and facilities to be provided for visitors. As a manager's toolkit, the plans provide direction for on-ground works and activities. Parks Victoria is responsible for the preparation of management plans for all areas of public lands (and waters) managed under the National Parks Act 1975 (Vic). The development of management plans for the Box-Ironbark Parks is a significant undertaking. The production of the plans will therefore be staggered over a three year planning period. However, Parks Victoria encourages input on management planning for all of the parks at any time. Once the Draft Plans have been developed they will be released for public comment. All draft and final management plans are listed in the Publications section of this site. On completion of the planning processes, the final Park Management Plans will be submitted to the Minister for Environment for approval. Timing for production of management plans over the three-year planning period is outlined below. Timelines Commenced: 2003-04 Greater Bendigo National Park Castlemaine Diggings National Heritage Park Broken-Boosey State Park Commencing: 2004-05 Reef Hills State Park Chiltern-Mt Pilot National Park Beechworth Historic Park Warby Range State Park Heathcote-Graytown National Park Commencing: 2005-06 St Arnaud Range National Park Kooyoora State Park Paddys Ranges State Park Members of the public are invited to be involved in the planning process in several ways, including attending public workshops and forums, asking questions and providing information on knowledge and/or "wants" related to the parks.
