The Board

Rob Gerrand Rob Gerrand, BA, FAMI, FAICD
(Chairman)
Principal, Gerrand & Associates
Mr Gerrand brings to the Board wide business experience in finance, transport, agriculture and telecommunications. He is a former General Manager, Group Public Affairs at ANZ, where he also established the Group Marketing Division. He is a former Member of the Koorie Heritage Trust, a former Chair of Theatreworks, founding President of the Monash Alumni Association and a Board Member of the Mental Health Research Institute of Victoria. Mr Gerrand is an Adjunct Professor at Deakin University and a published author.

Mr Gerrand has been recognised widely for his achievements in public relations, receiving awards including the International Public Relations Association Golden World Award and the Business Communicators' Golden Quill Award, positioning him as one of Australia's leading communication strategists.


Lois ApplebyLois Appleby
Ms Appleby retired as Chief Executive Officer of Tourism Victoria in 2006 after a distinguished career in sport events management. She is a Director for the Rugby World Cup New Zealand 2011 and Victorian Major Events Company. Ms Appleby is an Adjunct Professor with Victoria University and the Honorary Consul for Canada in Melbourne and holds a Bachelor of Education.


Clarice BallendenClarice Ballenden, BA (Hons) M.Ed.
Ms Ballenden's expertise arises out of her success in the private sector as founder and CEO of an educational publishing company. She has also held senior management positions in the public sector, had extensive consulting experience and had experience as both a member and chair of boards of management. As an executive coach she draws upon her strengths in education, business development, strategic planning, policy development and implementation, stakeholder communication and good governance.


Damien BellDamein Bell
Mr Bell is the Project Manager of the Lake Condah Sustainable Development Program and has a background in Koorie education. He is Chair of the Gunditj Mirring Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation, former member of the Winda Mara Aboriginal Corporation and a current member of the Victorian Aboriginal Heritage Council, Victorian Indigenous Advisory Committee and Native Title Services Victoria Ltd. Mr Bell has completed an Accelerated Leadership Development Program and a Graduate Diploma Natural Resources Management.


Rod GowansRod Gowans, PSM.
Rod Gowans has over 30 years experience in the management of natural resources on public and private land. He has worked in various executive leadership roles responsible for the management of national parks, conservation reserves and the conservation of biodiversity. He has national and international experience in programs for nature conservation and natural resource management. He is currently a member of the Victorian Catchment Management Council and a Trustee of the Trust for Nature. He was awarded the Public Service Medal (PSM) in the 2007 Australia Day honours for outstanding public service to the conservation of biodiversity and to the management of national parks.


Ken KingKen King, Dip. For., B.Sc (Hons)
Mr King recently retired from his position of Executive Director, Land and Fire Management with the Department of Sustainability and Environment. He was previously a Board Member of the Phillip Island Nature Park (1997 - 2003) and has had extensive experience in public land and natural resource management in the Victorian public service since 1974. Previously Regional Manager for the Department of Conservation, Forests and Lands through to the former Department of Natural Resources and Environment in South Gippsland, North West and Port Phillip Regions, he was awarded the National Medal for Fire Services in 1989.

Mr King is also a Board Member on the Country Fire Authority, Metropolitan Fire and Emergency Services, the Habitat Trust and the Natural Resources Conservation League.


Noel HarveyNoel Harvey, OAM, MAICD
Mr Harvey has extensive experience in local government since 1991 with the Shires of Kyneton, Hepburn and Macedon Ranges and served four terms as Mayor. He has a keen interest in community development throughout regional Victoria. Mr Harvey is Deputy Chairman of Coliban Regional Water Authority, and was Board member of North Central Catchment Management Authority and Chairman of The Victorian Mineral Water Committee. He is a former member of the Victorian NAP/NHT Independent Advisory Panel and the Envirofund Victorian Assessment Panel. He was awarded an Order of Australia in January 2004 for services to Local Government, Regional Victoria and the Community of Kyneton.


Jennifer LabourneJennifer Labourne, B.Bus, FCPA
Ms Labourne is a former partner of Ernst & Young and is the Director and Principal Adviser SIAG Commerce Solutions Pty Ltd. She is Deputy Chair of Health Purchasing Victoria, and chairs its audit committee, a member of Mental Health Research Institute and its audit committee as well as a member of the audit committee of Harness Racing Victoria. Ms Labourne is experienced in the areas of financial management and corporate governance, and is a Fellow of CPA Australia and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia.


Jan MahoneyJan Mahoney BA, PhD, FAICD
Dr Mahoney has had an extensive career in Agriculture. Previously, she was Chief Executive Officer of Grainfoods CRC Ltd and Executive Manager Product and Service Delivery with the Grains Research and Development Corporation. She is a Director of Grampians Wimmera Mallee Water Corporation and an Associate of Leadership Victoria. Dr Mahoney also has a Graduate Diploma in Agribusiness and has completed the Advanced Company Directors Diploma.
