Campground Host Program
[Volunteers Home]
 Parks Victorias Campground Host program is a fantastic way to see our magnificent park system while at the same time providing a contact point for both the public and our staff. The required minimum stay is either 7 or 14 days. Training will be provided, included Basic Wildfire Awareness training, before your placement begins. Applicants must be self-motivated, enjoy working with the public and have excellent communication and verbal skills. Some of the campsites are in remote locations so volunteers should have a good level of fitness and health. Duties will vary from site to site but generally include: - Providing information and advice to visitors and campers in the park that you are allocated to;
- Assisting campers by ensuring their stay is both memorable and enjoyable through providing information about park activities and local attractions;
- Maintaining the camping area to enable a safe place for all people to enjoy;
- Support Ranger staff by communicating on a day to day basis and advising of any hazards or issues;
- Assisting in campsite allocation, check in and recording numbers of campers;
- Assisting Rangers with interpretation activities and park information;
- Ensuring the professional presentation of Parks Victoria through wearing the allocated Campground Host uniform while on duty;
- Other duties as required with the appropriate permission from the Campground Host Coordinator.
