There are many parks well equipped for sporting fanatics in and around Melbourne. To view a list of facilities at a specific park choose the park page from the list above.

Here are some Melbourne parks well equipped with sports facilities:

Albert Park is located just a few kilometres from the centre of Melbourne, and whether participating or spectating, is well equipped for sport lovers

  • The parks 21 sports fields cater for many amateur sports clubs including cricket, football, soccer, baseball, hockey, lawn bowls, tennis and boating.
  • There are a range of indoor sporting facilities at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre.
  • A large indoor sports centre is located in the Pit lane pavilion with swimming, diving, basketball, netball, badminton, squash, table tennis and indoor cricket facilities. You can also become a member of the gym.
  • The Melbourne Grand Prix Circuit, Albert Park 18 Hole Public Golf Course and Driving Range, the Bob Jane Stadium (home of South Sydney FC) and several ovals are also located in the park.


Yarra Bend Park
is four kilometres from the centre of Melbourne city and has stunning natural bushland areas in which to enjoy a number of sporting activities. The park is used for boating, canoeing, team sports, golf, fishing, and orienteering.

  • Tee of at one of two golf courses, the 9 hole Studley Park Golf Course or the 18 hole Yarra Bend Golf Course.
  • Sports grounds are available for hire for social matches, including turf two synthetic pitch ovals, alternatively join one of the amateur sports clubs.
  • Hire row boats, canoes and kayaks from the Studley Park Boathouse, the oldest operating boathouse in Australia.
  • Practice your casting at the international fly-casting pool.
