There’s no better way to appreciate the diversity of our parks than to spend time in them under canvas. Whether you surround yourself with creature comforts, or prefer complete self-sufficiency - how you camp in Victoria’s parks is up to you.

  • Camping in Style
Serviced campgrounds offer flush toilets, tap water, picnic tables, barbecues, hot showers and, in some, even laundries. Examples of serviced campgrounds include Tidal River, Mount Eccles, Mount Buffalo and Lake Eildon National Parks, Buchan Caves Reserve and Upper Yarra Reservoir Park.
  • Back to Basics
Camping areas with basic facilities usually have fireplaces, picnic tables, a water supply and non-flushing toilets. Access to these grounds may be by sealed or unsealed roads. Parks with basic facilities include: Grampians, Wyperfeld, Lower Glenelg, Croajingolong and Great Otway National Parks.
  • Roughing it
Bush camping areas require campers to be entirely self-sufficient and well prepared for emergencies. Toilets may not always be available and access is generally more difficult, either on rough tracks, by foot, or boat. Campers should carry in water or be aware of how to make untreated water safe for drinking.

Facilities and regulations vary from park to park so you will need to read the descriptions on each park page in the list at the top of the page.

Some of our most popular parks for camping include: Wilsons Promontory National Park, Grampians National Park, Alpine National Park, Mount Buffalo National Park, Great Otway National Park, and Cape Conran Coastal Park.
