 The Parks Charge

Planning Great Otway National Park and Otway Forest Park

A package of three draft plans for the future management of the Great Otway National Park and the Otway Forest Park has been released for public comment.

Written submissions to the plans closed on 2 June 2008.

Parks Victoria and the Department of Sustainability and Environment sought community input to shape and influence the final plans. Throughout April Parks Victoria conducted three Open House events in Apollo Bay, Gellibrand and Anglesea. These were designed for people to 'drop in' and participate in a variety of ways. For those who were unable to attend the Open House events - Parks Victoria offered an opportunity to get involved online and contribute comments and ideas via an eForum.

The management plan is being amended and finalised by Parks Victoria and Department of Sustainability and Environment in response to submissions.

The Otway Landscape Community Council was appointed by the Minister in October 2007 and has been working in partnership with Parks Victoria and the Department of Sustainability and Environment to develop the community engagement program.

The Otway Landscape Community Council has now concluded their two year term.
