Portarlington Safe Harbour – Master Plan

About the Plan

The Hon Gavin Jennings, Minister for Environment and Climate Change, released the Portarlington Safe Harbour Master Plan on 29 October 2009. Click to view media release.

The Plan provides a vision for the future use and development of the harbour and adjoining foreshore for the next ten years. Please refer to the Final Community Newsletter for a summary of the Master Plan.

A steering committee comprising representatives from Parks Victoria, City of Greater Geelong, Bellarine Bayside Foreshore Committee of Management, Department of Sustainability & Environment, Tourism Victoria, Department of Innovation Industry & Regional Development, Department of Primary Industries and Marine Safety Victoria has guided development of the plan.

The plan is the blueprint for the future use of the harbour and adjoining foreshore incorporating the development of new, or refurbishment of existing, infrastructure for commercial and recreational boating, and supporting the local tourism industry within Portarlington.

The plan incorporates key stakeholder and community views to ensure that the ecological, heritage, cultural, and amenity values of the harbour and foreshore are protected.
