What do you need to know to become a ranger? The most common perception of the role of a ranger is that of protecting animals, however a ranger's job is far more diverse and involves managing Victoria's natural and cultural assets. To explore this further Parks Victoria will be conducting Career Discovery Days at locations across Victoria . The focus will be on the key responsibilities and duties of a park ranger addressing various aspects of the role including visitor services, cultural heritage protection and natural resource management.Current employment selection procedures will be outlined and session topics may include:
- Animal and plant management techniques
- Fire management and fire ecology
- Visitor services management
- Cultural heritage management
Cost $10.00 per student (Inc GST)
Includes materials, morning and afternoon tea. A selection of relevant course information will also be available on the day.
