Dandenong Ranges National Park
Program Supported by the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development
The Dandenong Ranges National Park, declared in December 1987, is among the more unusual and beautiful of Victoria’s national parks.
Easily accessible from Melbourne, the Dandenong Ranges provides many opportunities to explore diverse forest types including cool temperate rainforest, tall Mountain Ash forests and dry shrubby forests.
A dedicated education centre is located in the historic kiosk at the bottom of the Kokoda
Track/1,000 Steps in Ferntree Gully Picnic Ground. A variety of hands on curriculum based programs can be delivered in the park. Further details are provided in the Education Program Guide below, alternatively
contact an education officer for more information.
