Minibeasts
Before you go off on your "minibeast safari", collect an old jar or plastic bag to put your minibeasts in. This will help you to look at them as you find them.

Be sure to put the minibeasts back as soon as you have looked at them!

Draw some of your own minibeasts in and around the magnifying glass, and describe where you found them.

Look in flowers and on branches.
Look on leaves.
Look under bark.
Look in rotting logs.
Look in the grass.
Look in leaf litter.
Look on, around and under rocks.

You must have discovered many new and exciting minibeasts on your safari! Many of them you may have never seen before and some you may know quite well!

Of all minibeasts you discovered, which one was your favourite? If you don't know its real name, give it a new one!

Draw some pictures of your favourite minibeasts!

Write a short story or poem about your favourite minibeast and why you think it's special. Describe... what it looks like, where you found it, what it does for a living.

Imagine what it would be like if you were the same size as the minibeasts. What new things would you see? Share your ideas with your class.
