Nocturnal Animals
In almost every park you visit, there will be a few animals that only come out after dark. These animals are nocturnal - they move around and feed at night. During the day they stay in their homes.

Often all you see are two small eyes shining in the dark!

Their homes could be a burrow, a hollow log, a nest high in a tree or a small hole underground.

Nocturnal Animal Homes
Here are four examples of homes to help you. Who owns these homes? Web, Hollow Log, Nest, Tree Hollow

Shining Eyes!

Often on spotlight walks, the first sign that there are nocturnal animals about is by the eye-shine. Even tiny spiders have shining eyes that stand out amongst the dark bush like diamonds.
Some animals have eye-shine of a certain colour. Possums have red eyes, spiders have yellow or green

Move the mouse over the eyes!

What animals do they belong to?
