Car parking in Albert Park Reserve

Albert Park

Parking fees apply to all carparks and kerbside parking spaces within Albert Park. Time restrictions and ticket requirements are shown on parking signs within the park.

All vehicles in pay-for-parking areas of Albert Park Reserve need to purchase a ticket from one of the parking meter machines in the park. To avoid parking fines, tickets must be displayed prominently on the dashboard.

Parking fees from 1 July 2023

  • Weekday hourly rate (8 am to 5 pm): $5.80 per hour
  • Weekday evening rates (5 pm to 9 pm): $5.80 flat rate
  • Weekday all day rate: $13.90 per day
  • Weekend all day rate: $5.80 flat rate

Parking permit fees

Parks Victoria administers a system of parking permits to provide discounted parking for legitimate sports clubs, businesses and tradespeople conducting work within Albert Park. By displaying a valid parking permit, permit holders are exempt from a number of parking restrictions.

Junior Sports Club permit

Junior Sports Club Parking Permit is available to parents or guardians of junior sports club members that are tenants of Albert Park Reserve.

This permit is only valid in the vicinity of the tenant club’s sports fields and/or pavilion during designated club activities.

Proof of current sports club membership must be provided with this application.

Tenant permit

Tenant Parking Permit is available to commercial tenants of Albert Park Reserve. 

Exempts the permit holder from time restrictions and paying the relevant parking fee within Albert Park Reserve.

Tradesperson permit

Tradesperson Parking Permit is available to tradespersons conducting work in Albert Park. 

Exempts the permit holder from time restrictions and paying the relevant parking fee within Albert Park Reserve.

Note: Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre (MSAC) members/users should contact MSAC management regarding its parking arrangements.

The net revenue from parking fees will continue to be reinvested back into Albert Park Reserve services and facilities and the sports and recreation club grant program.

If you wish to submit a request for an internal review, visit ARMA Parking Infringement Portal and complete the online form. Once the online form has been submitted, escalation of this matter will be suspended until a review has been completed and a response provided to you advising the outcome.

Applications for internal review on infringements can be lodged at any time before the infringement is registered with Fines Victoria, which will occur if the infringement remains unpaid.

When you're there

Apart from the lake itself, other attractions include sporting facilities, ovals, playgrounds, restaurants and a 5km walking and running track. Sporting facilities include a golf driving range, gymnasium and the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre.

Picnic areas in Albert Park

Albert Park has nine picnic areas around the picturesque lake, which can be used for picnics and barbecues. Each area has a range of facilities including free electric barbecues, playgrounds, shelters and wide open spaces.
